Mugello

Italian F4 Championship, Rd.4, 3rd/4th October

Wet Italian F4 weekend at Mugello!

Varied conditions tested the Italian F4 drivers at Mugello, and Red Bull Junior Jonny Edgar was in the battle for good points and chasing those podium positions. Both jonny and his team mate went off in the wet Race 1, though Jonny took a 5th place in Race 2.  The pair came into contact in the dry Race 3, leaving Jonny with a puncture.

“A lot of people tested more than us here, because we are also doing the German championship so missed some chances. Thursday went pretty well considering that, and when we got to practice, FP2 was really good (3rd). I only had one lap on new tyres but we were close to the fastest. In the rain, we struggled for pace, as we hadn’t tested here in the wet. The Qualis weren’t awful, but not great. Then in Race 1 I got hit at the end of the first lap, that was it for me and I lost track time with that as well. So in Race 2 in the first few laps I was building confidence because I had a lot less laps than most people. Then I managed to make up a couple of places but I still wasn’t as quick as the top 4.”

“Then in Race 3, I was starting 4th and it was wet on my side of the grid but I still got up to 3rd. Then we had a Safety Period and on the restart I had a good restart, was going for 2nd, fully ahead and then the guy inside just came out and hit my tyres, I got knocked back to 7th I think. I got back a few places, then with 2 laps to go got hit and got a puncture, so didn’t finish.”
