Italian F4: Vallelunga (Preview)

Jonny to make a splash at Vallelunga Italian F4 finale

The weather forecast doesn’t look good, but the race forecast for Red Bull Junior Jonny, is excellent. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver is ready for the Italian F4 finale at Vallelunga after very successful tests, a very wet day yesterday (Wednesday) and two days in the dry last week.

Jonny: “We raced here last year and we had the test last week and yesterday. Last week’s test was really good. I was like, top 2 in 5 or 6 out of 8 sessions in the dry. Yesterday was wet and the first session was the only one where we really got proper laps. Then I was 3rd, a tenth off the fastest. In the second session not one person set a lap time because there were so many Red Flags. In the third session I’m not sure where I ended up but I had to overtake 5 or 6 cars on my best lap. The overall lap time was not that good but really in the wet or the dry I think the pace was pretty good actually.”

Jonny continued: “I quite like the track, one bit is quite tight but I don’t mind it, it’s quite good. The car is working very well, especially in the dry it is really good. We were really fast at the test last week. I think it is going to be a wet weekend which can make things difficult, especially in Qualifying if we have a lot of Red Flags. It can just depend on a bit of luck. In the races, if it is as wet as yesterday it will be hard to see. Yesterday’s fourth session was cancelled because it was so wet.”
