FIA F3: Monza, Rd.9

Jonny looking for more following the Red Flag.

Jonny: “Practice was damp at the start and at the very end it dried enough to put slicks but the lap times were 9 seconds slower than the dry so it was hard to learn anything,” he explained. In Qualifying the car felt very good but I got very unlucky on the last run and got blocked on the first lap and had a yellow flag in T1 on my best lap so I lost 0.8 due to having to slow down. Then in Sector 2 I was fastest by 2 tenths and Sector 3 was also good. So it was a shame because the potential for Pole or at least top 3 was there.”

“Race 1 I had quite a good start and stayed P4 and then I got up to P3 after the Safety Car restart. Then the last few laps I struggled for pace so I ended up P5. Race 2 we made some changes on the car and the first few laps I had a lot of understeer and I dropped back a few places. But after this the balance became much better and I set fastest lap and managed to get back to P8 before the Red Flag. That was a shame because I think I could’ve gone further forward.”
