24 Hours of Le Mans: LMGT3 Class Victory!

Jonny Edgar claims maiden 24 Hours of Le Mans victory

Cumbria’s Jonny Edgar has secured a landmark first victory at the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, triumphing in the LMGT3 class with TF Sport and Corvette.

The BRDC Superstar played a pivotal role in delivering TF Sport’s third Le Mans win, as well as Corvette’s fourth, in front of a crowd exceeding 350,000 spectators. Supported by the Motorsport UK Academy, Jonny was central to a performance defined by precision, resilience, and outright pace.

Starting from a challenging 17th position on the grid following a difficult qualifying session, the team executed a smart early strategy. Bronze-rated driver Ben Keating, returning after missing the opening two FIA WEC rounds due to injury, took the start to complete his mandatory drive time early. He delivered a composed and competitive opening stint, keeping the #33 Corvette firmly in contention.

From there, Jonny and Nicky Catsburg took control. Both drivers produced consistently strong stints as the race unfolded, with Jonny ultimately setting the car’s fastest lap of the race. By the halfway mark, the team had surged into the lead.

Jonny and Catsburg maintained their advantage through the closing hours, managing traffic and pressure with composure while the TF Sport crew executed faultless pit stops. The gap to the chasing pack steadily increased as the race entered its final stages.

In a fitting conclusion, Jonny was entrusted with bringing the iconic yellow Corvette across the line, sealing victory in the 94th edition of endurance racing’s most prestigious event and round three of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Jonny: “It’s unbelievable. The team did an incredible job, and I’m really grateful to all the mechanics and engineers for their hard work. Ben and Nicky were fantastic in their stints, and the car was a pleasure to drive. Racing at Le Mans is special, but to win here is something else entirely. I’m also hugely grateful for the support from my sponsors and family. Their belief in me has made this possible.”

The victory marks TF Sport’s first win of the 2026 FIA WEC season. Combined with a second-place finish at the 6 Hours of Imola, Jonny and Catsburg now lead the LMGT3 championship standings after three rounds. They will look to extend their advantage at the next event, the 6 Hours of São Paulo, taking place from 10–12 July.

The race will be broadcast live on TNT Sports in the United Kingdom and via the FIA WEC app.
