4 Hours of Le Castellet, Paul Ricard
Jonny Edgar Delivers Podium on ELMS Return
Jonny Edgar marked his return to the European Le Mans Series in style, securing a superb podium finish at Paul Ricard while deputising for Louis Deletraz at the 4 Hours of Le Castellet.
Stepping in due to a calendar clash with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the D.Tolson and Sons-supported driver joined familiar teammates PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron in the #99 AO Racing by TF Sport LMP2 entry. Despite limited preparation time, Jonny immediately found his rhythm, ending Thursday’s collective test third overall and playing a key role in refining the car’s setup for the race weekend.
Momentum continued to build through practice, with the team showing strong pace throughout. A standout qualifying performance from PJ secured a front-row start in the LMP2 Pro/Am category, setting the tone for a confident race approach.
PJ took the opening stint and delivered a composed start before handing over to Jonny, who quickly settled into an intense midfield battle. The BRDC Superstars driver produced an assured and entertaining stint, going wheel-to-wheel with Antonio Fuoco in the #83 AF Corse Oreca while firmly keeping the team in podium contention. Jonny then handed “Spike the Dragon” to Dane for the final phase of the race.
A series of safety cars and full course yellows added unpredictability, briefly threatening the team’s position. However, a clean and disciplined race allowed the #99 crew to capitalise on rivals’ penalties, ultimately securing an impressive second-place finish in class.
Jonny: “It’s been a really fun weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed being back in the ELMS paddock. Racing with AO Racing and TF Sport is always something special, and to come away with a podium is a great result for everyone involved. Hopefully these points will be valuable for PJ, Dane and the team in the championship fight. Louis had just one request before the weekend – that I didn’t pee in his seat – and I can confirm it’s still dry for his return.”
There is little time to celebrate for the Motorsport UK Academy Team UK driver as Jonny heads straight to Spa-Francorchamps for the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, where he will be back behind the wheel of TF Sport’s LMGT3 Corvette.
The 6 Hours of Spa (7-9 May) will be broadcast live on TNT Sports in the UK and via FIAWEC+, the championship’s new streaming platform.
